game "Arkanoid" is loading.....
One of the earliest arcade games in the block-breaking genre, Arkanoid is based on breakout games developed by Atari in the 1970s. To give the game a background storyline, creators refer to the platform as the Vaus ship which the player controls with left and right movements to keep the ball bouncing against the blocks eventually breaking them. The term Arkanoid refers to the mother ship from which the space vessel Vaus originated.
At the beginning of the game, the player is given three Vaus ships that symbolize three lives to exhaust before the game is over. The ship acts as the paddle to prevent the ball from falling off. Once the game is initiated, the ball is bounced up to the layer of bricks. Some bricks are destroyed with just one ball collision while others require more. Power-ups appear when certain bricks are destroyed. These power-ups increase the chance of getting past through a stage by lengthening the ship or arming it with ammunition. The single objective in every stage is to destroy every single brick without losing the ball.
The next levels become incrementally challenging with harder bricks to destroy along with other obstacles that make the game more difficult than the preceding level. Of course, power-ups also become increasingly more powerful. Power-up capsules can multiply the number of balls to hasten the breaking process. A certain power-up could also instantly finish the stage. In stage 33, the boss named DOH appears and must be defeated so that Vaus could break free from the warped space.
