Balloon Fighter Game

In the era of stationary platform games, Balloon Fight must be one of the most celebrated games released in 1986 for NES. Set against a dark background with tiny white spots that would resemble the twinkling stars in outer space, two fighters wearing pilot-like costumes defeat their enemies by bursting their balloons. Their enemies are large birds of prey that would also burst the players' balloons using their claws or their beaks.

Balloon Fight can be played either with one or two players. The main objective of the game is to defeat all the flying enemies in every stage by bursting their balloons. These balloons are popped by maneuvering the flying character so that the balloon is stomped. Once the balloon gets in contact under the feet of the flying player, it bursts until the enemy could no longer fly. Upon landing on the ground, the player should then collide with that enemy to eliminate it before it is able to pump another balloon back. Repeatedly pressing either buttons on the NES controller elevates the character. Players must be aware that getting very near the watery part of the ground would unleash the giant piranha that instantly kills the character. Enemies falling on water are likewise instantly devoured by the giant piranha.

In the first stage of Balloon Fight, players are granted three lives and two balloons each. Two players can interact with one another and must be very careful not to burst each other's balloons as well as dodge the occasional thunderbolts.
