Battle Toads & DoubleDragon Game

As one of the earliest crossovers from various video game franchises, Battle Toads and Double Dragon: The Ultimate Team aptly represents the golden era of gaming in the 1990s that swept the world. While Battletoads was published by Rare Ltd. based in the UK, Double Dragon originated from the other side of the world published by Technos Japan. As the most anticipated crossover at that time, Battle Toads and Double Dragon: The Ultimate Team belongs to the brawler genre. It features melee combat between the players controlling either the characters from Battletoads or from Double Dragon and the underpowered villains along with the mighty bosses from both franchises.

Five playable characters can be controlled by the players. The famous Double Dragon characters included the Lee brothers, Billy Lee and Jimmy Lee, who are martial arts experts. On the other hand, the three humanoid toads, Zitz, Pimple and Rash, represent the characters from Battletoads. Two players can simultaneously play the game selecting one of the five characters with unique attributes to battle a gang of bandits and mutants. Seven stages each with a powerful boss must be finished to reach the stage of the evil Dark Queen of the Battletoads franchise. The Shadow Warriors from the Double Dragon franchise appear in every stage as bosses.

The Battle Toads and Double Dragon crossover video game is based on the game engine of the Battletoad series. Hence, stages are littered with obstacle courses that require rapid reflexes from the players controlling the characters.
