Castlevania 3 Dracula's Curse is the final installment of the Castlevania games that were produced for the NES. Konami released it in 1989 for Japanese markets and in North American markets in 1990. This game is designed to be a prequel to the original game in the series. The main character in this game is Trevor Belmont, who is the ancestor of the original protagonist, Simon Belmont.

This is a single player platform game. Throughout game play, the main character must make a series of choices, which determines Trevor's path. You can take two major paths. Each path will lead you through the 15-stage game. The game takes place in Europe in the year 1476. Count Dracula has begun to wreak havoc on European countries with his army of monsters. The Belmonts are a family that hunts vampires. The once exiled Trevor Belmont, owner of the Vampire Killer Whip, is asked by the church for help.

As you play through the Castlevania 3, you are able to choose one of three assistant characters. The first possible assistant character is Sypha Belnades. Her physical attacks are not that strong, but she is a sorcerer with access to powerful magical spells. The second assistant is Grant DaNasty. He is a pirate. The third character is Alucard, son of Dracula. He can shoot fireballs and he is able to take the form of a bat. When you reach the end of the game, the ending vary based on whether or not you take a companion, and which companion you choose.
