game "Duck Hunt" is loading.....
While the first person shooter has grown quite a bit over the last decade, most people don't realize that the pioneer of those games was probably one of the truly old school models. Duck Hunt NES was a game that allowed you to feel as though you were truly on a shoot, trying to get as much dinner as possible. Armed with a laser gun that actually communicated with your television in a way few video games did at the time, you were able to take aim and blast ducks out of the sky.
It is hard to remember just how advanced that particular technology was back in the mid 1980's. The fact of the matter is that the tech that the light gun used in that game hasn't changed all that much when you talk about the kinds of video game guns that are used today. While that little plastic device seems like it should have been left in the past, it was tweaked just a bit for today's models.
Duck Hunt can be considered one of the first person shooters simply because you don't actually see yourself on the screen. You are basically aided by your loyal digital dog, who will root out the ducks so you can shoot. Otherwise, you are completely off screen, something that has become hugely popular in the last few years. Quite frankly the game was a pioneer in quite a few different fields and because of this, the game is highly underrated as one of the best of its generation.
