Nintendo game - Lode Runner

One of the oldest and most classic titles for the NES console is the Lode Runner game. It was developed by Douglas Smith and one of the earliest games to pioneer the user capability for editing levels. Load Runner online had several pioneering features that were later adapted by newer games in the bounded scrolling genre.

The objective in every level is to collect all the piles of gold scattered all over the location. Floor levels can be accessed through the ladder. The character controlled by the user has the ability to dig holes on the brick platform. This ability would keep the guards from arresting him. A number of guards are assigned to secure every level and the character has to strategically find his way to the piles of gold while avoiding this trap. One contact with a guard and the character loses one life. Since the character cannot jump, he had to dig a hole either on his right or on his left to protect himself. If a guard fills in the trap, then the character can walk past through the filled hole.

Another important element found in most levels is the suspended hand-to-hand bar. These bars enable the character to move across the platform and he can immediately remove himself from it by pressing the down D-pad button. In the higher levels, layers of bricks protect the piles of gold. Portion of the platform is also protected against excavation. Hence, advanced levels are solved like puzzles using the limited capability of the character.
