Nintendo game - Megaman 2

While Mega Man was a landmark in gaming history, its commercial sales were awfully lackluster. In this light, Capcom's decision to create a sequel was quite a risky gamble. T.S. Elliot summed up the situation quite nicely with his quote "Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go." The result of taking a chance and creating MegaMan 2 in 1988 resulted in a game that was not only superior to its predecessor but was also a massive financial success as well. With over 1.5 million copies sold worldwide, MegaMan 2 was the spark that ignited the franchise's incredible popularity.

Also known as Rockman 2: The Mystery of Dr. Wily, Mega Man 2 begins with a cinematic view of a metropolis while solemn music plays in the background. Some text then appears onscreen that mentions the events following Mega Man 1: it seems that after being beaten in the first game, the evil Dr. Wily has created eight more robot masters in a second attempt to take over the world. The camera then pans up a towering skyscraper until it reaches the roof of the building, where Mega Man is seen surveying the city landscape while the music suddenly turns badass. "Mega Man II" is then splashed in huge letters across the screen as if boldly proclaiming the second coming. After this awesome cinematic introduction, the game shifts to the level select screen where the player chooses which robot master to battle first.

MegaMan 2 retains the basic action-platforming gameplay of the first wherein the player completes different levels by jumping over obstacles and defeating minor enemies, ultimately facing the robot master at the end of each stage. However, Mega Man 2 now has eight robot masters - Air Man, Crash Man, Flash Man, Quick Man, Metal Man, Bubble Man, Heat Man, and Wood Man - instead of the usual six. The developers also made the game less difficult after complaints surfaced that the first game was too challenging. A new power-up called the energy tank allows players to store health and refill the life meter at will. Mega Man 2 also introduces a password system that can save and restore data.

MegaMan 2 features a critically acclaimed soundtrack that was the pinnacle of 8-bit audio. Each level boss has a unique and extremely catchy musical theme that made the levels all the more enjoyable. Years later, gamers still rave about how awesome this game's music was, and modern websites are now littered with remixes and live presentations.

Despite being only a side-project that the developers worked on during their spare time, the MegaMan 2 NES game is almost flawless. It far surpassed expectations and became the best selling Mega Man entry of all time. Mega Man 2 is also widely regarded as the best game in the series, and that's saying much since the Mega Man franchise now has over fifty titles.
