Nintendo game - Pacmania

Almost everyone in the world has undoubtedly heard of the Pac-Man video game. That particular game was quite simply one of the most popular in the history of arcade games back when it was new. It was even incredibly popular when it was not all that new.

One game that, for whatever reason, was much less popular was the game known as Pacmania NES which took the popular game and added a little depth. Perhaps Pacmania could not capture the popularity of its predecessor simply because people liked the old trustworthy two-dimensional pie shaped character. Perhaps the lack of popularity was simply people not liking to have to pay for the same game that was just slightly souped up.

Whatever the reason, this particular game had none of the cache or love that the original engendered. The key to this particular game was indeed just a play on the original with some souped up graphics. No longer was Pac-Man just a circle with a section cut out. Now our hero is pseudo-three dimensional, though his mission is still very much the same.

While the original Pac-Man had just one scene where all the action took place, this update actually allowed players to traverse four different levels. Gamers could chase and alternately run away from those dastardly ghosts in Blocktown, (a Lego-land like environment) Pac-Man's Park, which looks an awful lot like the original, Sandbox Land and Jungly Steps. Despite also offering several new ghosts as villains, the game never really got off the ground popularity wise.
