Paperboy 1 Game

The video game "Paperboy" originally began on the Atari system in 1984, but really gained its popularity when "Paperboy NES" was introduced in 1989.

The paperboy begins his route at the bottom of the screen, at the beginning of the day, and commences at the end of the day, which is the end of the level. The primary objective is to keep a many subscribers as possible by delivering the papers. The player receives 250 point for delivering the paper in the mailbox and 100 points for delivering to the doorstep. Points are doubled and tripled in the "Middle Road" and "Hard Way" levels respectively. Damaging the subscriber's home or failing to deliver the paper will result in the customer cancelling their subscription and the subscriber possibly setting traps for the paperboy the following day. Another objective to the game is to cause damage and vandalize the homes and property of non-subscribers in order to accumulate points.

The paperboy stays alive by avoiding obstacles such as fire hydrants, drunks, tornadoes, cars and skateboarders. They must also cross intersections, with gets harder as the game progresses. Some obstacles can help the paperboy gain points. For instance, the paperboy can smack a break-dancer with a newspaper for extra points.

A "perfect delivery" is achieved by delivering papers to all subscribers, which awards double bonus points, and reinstating lost subscribers, up to a maximum of 10. No more than 10 subscribers are permitted. If the player already has the maximum amount of subscribers they will only receive bonus points.
