Nintendo game - Rainbow Islands

The Rainbow Island NES game was developed and published by Taito in 1987. The game's subtitle is The Story of Bubble Bobble 2. This game is a sequel to Bubble Bobble, which was released one year earlier. It is a platform game that can be played in single player mode or in an alternating two player mode.

The point of the game is that each level is sinking. Each level is an individual island that is going down into the ocean. The player must get the character to the very top of each stage. This is done by jumping onto platforms, and using the various rainbows throughout the game. The rainbows are solid and can be used as both a platform and a weapon.
