game "Shadowgate" is loading.....
The Shadowgate NES game was released in 1989. Kemco published it for Nintendo. It is a single player adventure game. The title of the game comes from its setting. The game takes place in Castle Shadowgate. The castle is home to an evil warlock lord. The warlock is trying to summon a demon named Behemoth from Hell. The main character is on a quest to save humanity by defeating the warlock before he can unleash the demon on the world.
Throughout the game, the player has to solve various puzzles that are found in the castle. The puzzles must be solved in order to advance to the chamber of the warlock. The castle itself is dangerous, requiring the player to keep a lit torch constantly. If the torch goes out, the player will fall quickly and die. The player must then continue from the point at which they died. The player acquires several items within the castle such as ancient weapons, a sword and a sling.
The Shadowgate NES game is infamous for its numerous ways to kill players. Some of these dangers include a Cyclops attack, being dissolved by acid, a mauling from a wolf woman, suicide, or being sucked into space through a broken mirror. When the player arrives at the end of the game, the gates of Hell have already been opened. The player can use The Staff of Ages to wound the demon mortally. As the demon dies and returns to hell, he grabs the warlock and drags him down with him.
