Nintendo game - Shufflepuck Cafe

The Shufflepuck Cafe is a single player game that was originally released in July 1989. It is an air hockey game that was published by Broderbund and Ubisoft. The player can choose between two different modes of play. The first mode is tournament play. In this mode, the player competes against opponents that visit the Cafe. The second mode is known as a single player match. In this mode, the player can take time to practice opposite the various opponents. The positive of doing single player matches is that the player gets the chance to find out the weaknesses of all the opponents.

The player controls a bat that is used to bounce a hockey puck between the player and the CPU. In order to score, the player or opponent must knock the puck past the other one's bat. The player and CPU compete until one or the other reaches a specified amount of points. The match usually goes to 15.

The plotline of the story is that an intergalactic salesman's spaceship broke down. He is in need of a telephone to call for help, so he goes into the Shufflepuck Cafe to use their phone. The main opponents refuse to let him use the phone until he beats all of them at Shufflepuck. There are nine opponents that must be defeated. The first opponent is Skip Feeney, who has just started playing the game and is very nervous. He is easy to beat. The remaining opponents get increasingly harder as the player makes his or her way to the last challenger.
