Based on the award winning cartoon of the same name, Tiny Toon Adventures is just as lighthearted and engaging as the animation itself. Uniquely designed levels, appearances of multiple characters from the series, a solid storyline, and everything a Tiny Toon fan would want can be found here. It's a faithful adaptation by Konami for the NES, and the creativity behind the television show has certainly permeated into the game as well.

Tiny Toon Adventures was released in 1991 and is a standard action-platformer with its own unique elements mixed in. It begins with the menacing Montana Max revealing a message to our hero Buster Bunny through his television set about the kidnapping of his girl Babs Bunny. Montana Max has held Babs hostage and challenges Buster to go and reclaim her if he dares. The game then lets the player choose between Plucky Duck, Dizzy Devil, and Furrball as a side character. They each have individual abilities that make the gameplay more interesting: Plucky Duck can temporarily glide and fly, Dizzy Devil can spin and destroy enemies and barriers, and Furrball can climb most ascending surfaces. Players switch between Buster Bunny and the side character by finding special items within the game. Carrots are also collected throughout the different levels in order to increase player score.

There are a total of six levels, each designed with cartoony graphics that are sure to hit home with more casual gamers. Enemies and level bosses are also well-crafted and feature most of the mainstay characters from the show. The controls are pretty solid, especially the jump function which allows players to time their movements properly and propel themselves at their own rate. The jump can be cut short as well as prolonged; a full jump by Buster is a pretty long one and will clear most of the area within seconds if done continuously. However, this can be a common pitfall as there are numerous enemies and traps to contend with, and the player may get carried away, ultimately leading to a "Game Over". Tiny Toon Adventures puts up a manageable difficulty level while still keeping things challenging and fun.

Tiny Toon Adventures is simply a superb game from the 8-bit era and is often found in most players' collections. Tiny Toon NES can be played online for fans of the series who missed this one or for those looking for a bit of nostalgia and entertainment. It certainly won't disappoint.
